The brand’s most advanced smart telescope yet offers much more detailed images and is ideal for astrophotographers.

Although smart telescopes have so far been primarily for observing deep-sky objects from light-polluted cities, the Vaonis Vespera Pro is one of the first to be aimed squarely at astrophotographers after a hassle-free set-up.

Due to be launched in May 2024, but on pre-order now, the key upgrades on the Vespera Pro compared to the Vespera 2 are its 12.5-megapixel camera, a massive 225GB hard disk, and 11 hours of battery life. Not only does the Vespera Pro have an upgraded sensor—thereby offering more detailed images—but it also offers many manual features that astrophotographers will love, from camera manual settings and RAW files for manual processing to calibration frames and observation scheduling.

One of the most exciting aspects of Vaonis smart telescopes is Coval ENS. This mosaic/panorama/field expansion mode allows users to take images with a wider field of view than the native field of view of the telescope. Within Singularity, it’s possible to highlight a region of the sky you want to image, and the telescope will go ahead and take multiple images that it then automatically digitally stitches together. That’s precisely how professional astronomers use Hubble and the James Webb Space Telescope. On the Vespera Pro, that will mean stunning 32-megapixel images.
